Athlete Update #1

Hello 2016 Beaver Freezer Participants!

Thank you for signing up to race the Freezer! Below you will find important information about the race. We will be sending you updates as the race gets closer. Please review the FAQ page of our website before sending emails as 99% of the questions we get are answered in the FAQ's.

Thanks!
Ema & Jennifer

 Swim Time Updates

The deadline to update your 500 yard swim time is March 13th at 11:59pm. If you have had a significant change in your estimated time, please email us with the updated time. This will make the swim better for everyone, including yourself. Our swim change email is: 500yardswimtime@gmail.com.

Men and Relays will be swimming in Dixon this year. Women will be in Langton.

 Start Times
The duathlon will start at 8am. Duathletes (individuals and teams) will line up in the transition area and will start 5 seconds apart in a time trial fashion. All duathletes will start by 8:10am.

The triathlon will start in waves. Start times will begin at 8am and will be assigned approximately every 15 minutes through 10:30am. Starting times are based on your swim time with the slower swim times starting first. Final start time assignments will be made 1 week out from the race and will be posted on the website www.osubeaverfreezer.com.

The Super Fast Wave
The last wave of the day in each pool has been reserved for those of you who want to do more than just race - you want to win this thing! If you think you will place in the top 25 and would like to start in the super fast wave, please reply to this email requesting that wave assignment and provide a qualifying time from a previous triathlon.

Not sure if you are one of those super fast folks?
We expect the top 25 men to finish in under 70 minutes with the fastest guys going several minutes under one hour. WHOA!

Ladies? We expect the top 20 women to finish in under 80 minutes with the fastest ladies possibly breaking the one hour mark. Zoom, zoom!

Tri 101 Video
New to triathlons or to the Freezer? Staci, our wonderful club president made a Beaver Freezer 101 video to help ease your way! You can check it out on YouTube anytime. Feel free to send questions our way. We want this to be a great experience for you.

Nutrition on Course
The run course aid station is sponsored by Hammer! You can expect a variety of flavors of Hammer gels on the run course, along with Hammer gels in your packet. During the run, you will pass the aid station 3 times, approximately every mile.

 Duathlon and Tri Relay Spots
There is still room in the duathlon and the triathlon relay. If you know anyone who is interested in signing up, remind them to get in before we sell out completely. (The individual tri sold out)

Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up will be held at Dixon Recreation Center lower classroom! With packet pick up at the race site, you will be able to scout out the pools, transition and the course when you pick up your packet. Packet pick up times are shortened this year, but we will still be busy with various seminars during that time to help you and answer your questions. Packet pick up is on Friday April 1st from 4-7pm. Please do not show up at 3:45, we will not be ready to help you until 4. More details to follow with seminar information.

Packet pick up will also be available on Saturday morning before the race from 6:30-9am. You can only pick up your own packet, so plan to get it either Friday or Saturday in person.

The entrance and location of packet pick up is on the East side of Dixon. Please park in the parking garage and walk with the sand volleyball courts on your left. Look for the packet pick up signs and a big white tent. You will not be allowed to use the main entrance to get to packet pick up. If you park in front of Dixon, please walk around the south end of the building by the sand volleyball courts to access packet pick up.

 Wait List
If you are on the wait list, there is still hope! You can also race the du as a tune up race for the coming season.

Thanks again for supporting the OSU Triathlon Club and for your attention. We hope you are looking forward to race day as much as we are!
