Parking and Arrival on Race Day
On the day of the race, parking will be free on the OSU Campus. Parking is available in the parking garage at the corner of 26th and Washington. (Roof rack? WATCH YOUR BIKE!) There is some parking on the East side of Goss Stadium. There is very little parking available at the south end of the intramural fields along 26th street. There is more parking than necessary at Reser Stadium. You can view a Parking Map here.
We suggest arriving at the site a minimum of an hour prior to your race’s start, to get body-marked, set up in the Transition area, warm up, etc.
NO DRIVING ON CAMPUS, as many roads will be closed. Please be sure to approach OSU from the south as cars are not allowed to drive through campus. If you are coming from out of town, please follow the signs to Reser Stadium to find parking and transition. This includes either taking 14th street or the highway to 26th street. If you live in town, you know what to do. In the afternoon, be aware of traffic from an evening Baseball game.
You can find directions to the race venue here.
---
Transition
The transition area opens at 6:30am on Saturday and is located on 26th directly in front of Dixon Recreation Center.
Your transition spot is designated by the wave you are in. Please rack your bike in the appropriate section. Bikes should be racked alternating directions and should be close together. Transition area volunteers will help you rack your bike if you have any questions.
Upon arriving at the event, body marking will take place at each entrance to the T.A. It is the participant’s responsibility to get your body marked. After getting body marked double check that you have your timing chip on your person before the start of your wave.
Please adhere to the following Transition Area rules:
PLEASE remove your gear from transition as soon as possible after you complete your race. The transition area will be secure until 1:30pm the day of the race. Frequently left items include water bottles, caps, goggles, and towels. Check for all your stuff. We donate any leftover items 1 week after the race, so please double check.
---
Relay Team Specifics
Tagging for the bike and the run legs occur at your bike racking spot. You must exchange your timing chip at the exchange; this is how you "tag" your next teammate so that they can start.
Awards for relays occur with the Duathlon and Aquabike awards.
---
Gear Check
There is no gear check. Please leave valuables in your car. We will have transition security, but it is best to be safe.
---
Rules
While this is not a USAT sanctioned race, Beaver Freezer Athletes should abide by USAT rules. Some rule reminders:
---
Numbers
---
Category Note: This year we allowed for a more fluid gender selection rather than the binary male/female. How we have chosen to navigate this is by changing the “male” category to “open". Anyone with any gender identity can chose to race in the open category. We also have a “women’s” category. Anyone who identifies as a woman can select to race in the women’s category

Swim:
** UPDATE AS OF 4/14: We will no longer be holding the swim in two separate pools. ALL swims will be in the Dixon Recreation Center Pool.
We will be making the dive tank of the pool open to warmup starting at 7:30am.
Check In
You will be assigned to a specific wave time. Please report to the pool for check in 20 minutes prior to your start. We will be giving an important race briefing 10-15 minutes before the start of each wave which is extremely important not to miss.
Starting Line
Please proceed to the start line. Here, you and the 3 other people in your lane will line up in order of your starting position. Volunteers will help ensure that you are in the right lanes and all set to start the swim.
To Start
When the starter gives you the signal, you will walk one at a time to the timing mat. Here, you will stand on the mat until the starting volunteer clears you to enter the water. Your time starts 5 seconds AFTER you step on the mat. You must WALK to your lane and get in FEET FIRST. Any diving will result in a restart of your swim without a restart of your time. Volunteers will be available to answer any questions you have at the start.
Lane Etiquette
You will circle swim in the counterclockwise direction. To pass, it is recommended that you tap the person’s feet in front of you. They should then “pull over” at the next wall allowing you to pass safely. We do not recommend mid-lane passing as this will likely result in a head on collision with another swimmer.
Counting Laps
We will have volunteers counting laps to validate that you are swimming the full length, but it is your responsibility to count laps. Get out of the water after you complete your swim, and then exit the pool at the southeast door and head to transition. Volunteers will help direct you where you need to go.
---
Bike Course
---
Run Course
This is a 3-loop course. You will go up the library hill 3 times and will pass the aid station 3 times before heading to the finish which is located between the MU and the new SEC (Student Experience Center).
There are no headphones allowed on the run, or in the race in general! You can find a turn-by-turn directions and a course map here.
---
Aquabike Finish
While the Duathlon and Triathlon will finish as normal at the finish line, Aquabike is slightly different. Your time will finish at bike in / bike dismount at the end of the bike leg. However, you will still be required to still cross the finish line at the end of the run course. You will follow the run out and just take the first turn into the finish instead of doing the three laps of the run course. Since your time will have finished at bike in you can walk to the finish line if you would like. Your placing and time will be based on the finish of the bike, but we are requiring you to cross the finish line so that you can turn in your timing chip and get your finisher prize (plus you can take a photo at the finish line!).
